On Tuesday, December 8, 2020, Alvin Bates, a loving husband and father, and friend to all, finished his battle with COVID and passed away at the age of 65. Alvin joined Funds For Learning in 2005 as an owner, counselor, and advisor to our team.
Alvin was a fervent supporter of Funds For Learning’s mission to connect students to the Internet, a passion born out of his strong faith and life experience, having been raised in a house without indoor plumbing or a telephone. Alvin loved our team and went out of his way to support us. His vision for Funds For Learning allowed us to grow and expand in ways we had never imagined, and it was Alvin who created our beautiful glass-walled workplace so that every E-rate Guide could have a desk with a view of the world. His big smile and deep voice will be sorely missed in our office.
