On January 10, 2018 the North Carolina State Board of Education recognized the School Connectivity & E-rate Services group of the Department of Public Instruction for their tireless efforts in support of North Carolina public schools. Specifically, Lt. Governor Dan Forest highlighted the achievements made towards making North Carolina schools ready for Digital Teaching and Learning by having nearly every school building connected to fiber-based Internet access and having one wireless access point per classroom. Mark Johnson, State Superintendent of the Department of Public Instruction, congratulated the team on their efficiency and expertise in leveraging legislative funds with E-rate discounts to enable over $78M in Internet services and internal connections in 2018 for North Carolina schools.
