FCC Urged to Delay Net Neutrality Vote

On December 12, 2017, twenty one Senators sent a letter to FCC Chairman Ajit Pai urging the Commission to take more time to consider the potential negative impacts of the draft Net Neutrality Order that will likely be voted on during the December 14th FCC Open Meeting. The Senators would like further study on the “…potential impacts on students, schools, institutions of higher education, and public libraries…and fear that the Draft Order could harm our nation's students and schools-especially those in rural and low-income communities…” The Senate letter also asks the Commission to explain how the draft Order would affect the E-rate program and the progress that has been made since the 2014 E-rate Modernization Order.
