On September 21, 2017 FCC Chairman Ajit Pai spoke at the Kansas Broadband Conference and focused his remarks on his vision for closing the digital divide, especially in rural America. He pointed out that removing barriers for investment and removing burdensome regulations will spur broadband innovation. While not mentioning the E-rate by name, Pai spoke about the need for high speed broadband connections and how it, broadband, is leveling the playing field for our 21st century learners in rural America. He specifically mentioned that “…if your local high school doesn’t offer AP Physics, distance learning makes it possible to take the class online…”
