On May 17, 2017 the Schools, Health & Libraries Broadband Coalition (SHLB) submitted a letter to President Trump advocating that broadband investment be included in any infrastructure legislation that the Administration and Congress consider over the coming months. While improving the nation’s traditional infrastructure such as bridges, airports, roads and the electrical grid, the SHLB letter stressed that "…broadband networks are the foundation for economic growth in the 21st century and beyond" and is needed to compete in the "global economy".
