On January 30, 2017, USAC Schools & Libraries Committee held their quarterly board meeting. The SLD is continuing to work with the FCC on when to open the FY2017 Form 471 Filing Window and the objective is to have a single filing window for FY2017. The Committee voted for Dr. Daniel Domenech from the American Association of School Administrators to remain Chair and Ken Mason from Frontier Communications to remain as Vice Chair for another term. The Board also discussed the following issues:
- The Committee approved the minutes from the October 24, 2016 meeting;
- The Committee approved the Schools and Libraries Support Mechanism 2nd Quarter 2017 Programmatic Budget;
- The Committee approved the Demand Projection for the January 31, 2017 FCC Filing;
- The Committee approved 28 USAC Internal Audit Division Schools and Libraries Support Mechanism Beneficiary Audit Reports. The SLD is seeking recovery of $1 million based on these audit findings;
- The SLD is working toward cost effectiveness and benchmark pricing models;

- Completed 42,024 Form 471’s
- Committed $1.9 billion for FY2016 vs $3.2 billion for FY2015 at the same time last year
- 91% of the FY2016 Form 471’s are completed vs 96% for FY2015 at this time last year
- There are a total of 965 fiber applications and as of January 9, 2017, 42% of the fiber applications completed
- ‚ÄãOnly 22% of the requested dollars of the fiber applications have been reviewed
