FCC Chairman Wheeler responded to Senator John Thune, the Senate Commerce Committee Chairman, and Senator Cory Gardner concerns about the role of consultants play in the Rural Healthcare program as well as other Universal Service Support programs. Chairman Wheeler stated that in the letter that the cost of hiring consultants is not eligible and the cost of consultants cannot be reimbursed by beneficiaries in USF programs. The Chairman further responded to direct questions about audits and wrote that audits are specifically designed to confirm compliance with the rules and regulations.
