On April 4, 2016, during its annual conference, the Consortium For School Networking (CoSN) released their 4th Annual K-12 Leadership Survey Report. The report found that IT leaders are most concerned about having adequate bandwidth and network capacity for their districts and this issue replaces online assessment readiness as the number one priority the last several years. The IT leaders also believe that at least 50% of their instructional materials will be digital within the next three years and nearly 80% of the respondents use online productivity tools which explains the need to having enough capacity to handle the increase demand in the network.
This data underscores the importance of the E-rate program and how this is the one federal program geared to make the connectivity happen. The 2016 CoSN Survey can be found here.
Honors CEO Harrington
At the close of its conference, CoSN awarded Funds For Learning CEO John Harrington the Kathy Hurley Private Sector Champion Award for his advocacy of the E-rate program and his work to ensure every student receives equitable access to the Internet. To qualify for the Kathy Hurley Private Sector Champion Award, the honoree must go beyond what is required of his or her job description and provide high-quality and strategic value to CoSN and the education community. The award program began in 2000 and has recognized leaders from education and technology companies – and beyond. Please join me in congratulating John for his dedication to this cause.
