On October 8th, 2014 the USAC Schools and Libraries Division (SLD) committed $51.6 million for FY 2014 bringing the total committed amount to $2.01 billion. By the same time last year, the SLD had only committed $995.6 million for FY 2013, and it wasn’t until April 5th, 2014 that the $2 billion commitment mark was reached. The review of FY 2014 applications has moved at a much faster pace, having reached the $1 billion mark on June 19th of this year.
On the SLD monthly vendor conference call, the SLD told the attendees that all of the ‘workable’ FY 2014 E-rate applications have already received a funding decision (workable meaning no further review is required).
Based on Funds For Learning analysis, there are still 1610 applicants that have pending FY 2014 priority one applications still being reviewed by the SLD, totaling $533.7 million in funding requests. The SLD will continue to work with applicants to process those pending applications and will release funding waves they make the funding decisions.
