The SLD has announced that they will release the first funding wave for FY 2014 on May 15, 2014. The first funding wave will commit over $607 million in Priority One funding requests, on over 14,600 funding commitment decision letters. The FCC provided additional information that over $450 million of the first wave will specifically be for broadband solutions.
According to Funds For Learning analysis, here is a breakdown of the date and dollar amount committed in each first funding wave since FY 2010:
- The first FY 2013 funding wave was released on May 29, 2013 and committed $130 million.
- The first FY 2012 funding wave was released on July 10, 2012 and committed $646 million
- The first FY 2011 funding wave was released on June 23, 2011 and committed $400 million
- The first FY 2010 funding wave was released on May 26, 2010 and committed $429 million
