This past week, Funds For Learning attended the Schools, Health & Libraries Broadband Coalition (SHLB) Annual Conference and participated on a panel discussion tied to the FCC’s E-rate modernization efforts. The panel discussed E-rate trends, and there was considerable interest from the SHLB attendees for more data pertaining to the library community.
FFL analyzed the Block 6 data from all 46,046 Funding Year 2014 Forms 471 and found that there were 4,063 applicants that had identified themselves specifically as library applicants.

Our analysis has provided the following nationwide per-applicant averages for Libraries in FY 2014:
- Requested amount – $29,215
- Total E-rate project value – $37,472
- “Necessary resources” budgeted to use E-rate services – $109,386
- Annual spending (E-rate projects plus necessary resources) – $136,819
