On December 18, 2013, twenty six Members of the House of Representatives sent a letter to the FCC urging the Commissioners to take “swift action” to reform the E-rate program. The Representatives further wrote that “we believe this is an important first step to provide our children with high-quality digital learning opportunities in order to improve student outcomes and prepare them to succeed in a 21st century economy.”
It is expected the FCC will release new rules and regulations to streamline the application process and modernize the program to enhance broadband opportunities in the coming months.
