On March 29, 2013, the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) released its 2012 Annual Report. The report provides the Federal Communications Commission and Congress details about the non-profit company’s activities, expenses, and performance measures regarding its management of the Universal Service Fund programs. The E-rate program is one of four Universal Service programs administered by USAC. Highlights from the report include:
USAC reported that the average time for the SLD to process invoices from E-rate stakeholders was 5 days. This is unchanged from the 2011 annual report.
The SLD received 1,811 appeals in 2012. This is an increase of 423 from the 2011 annual report.
The average appeal processing time was 76 days. In 2011, the average appeal processing time was 77 days.
The SLD received 512,951 invoices, a 2% increase from the 2011 report. Approximately 30,000 invoices were denied (6%.)
