In June 2012, Funds For Learning concluded a nationwide survey of E-rate applicants. The results of the survey have been published in a whitepaper available for download here.
In a time of increasing technology costs amidst shrinking budgets, the responses to the survey highlighted the importance of the E-rate program to applicants across the country.
Findings of the survey include:
Fewer than 15 percent of applicants believe that their Internet access and communications infrastructure is adequate to meet educational needs in the near future.
On-campus wireless connectivity is a priority. Eighty-eight percent of applicants expect textbooks and bring your own device (BYOD) initiatives to increase network demands.
Thirty-seven percent of applicants supported a new EZ-type application over other changes, such as a simple discount calculation.
