Each year the FCC releases the Universal Service Monitoring Report prepared by the Federal-State Universal Service Joint Board. The Monitoring Report highlights trends and statistics from the four Universal Service programs including the E-rate program. The data is current as of June 30, 2010.
One of the most telling pieces of information in the report is the Committed Funds per Student by state. While both public and private schools are eligible for E-rate support, the information provided in the report below only includes public school enrollment data. Though this may cause the per student averages to be slightly inflated, it does display an accurate picture of committed funds per student on a state-by-state basis.

- DC – Committed: $184.24; Disbursed: $113.88
- AK – Committed: $170.20; Disbursed: $152.67
- MA –Committed: $131.46: Disbursed: $109.75
- NM –Committed: $123.67; Disbursed: $98.35
