This week the SLD announced that on April 26 more than $126 million of funding will be committed in the first wave for Funding Year 2006. If released on that date, the first wave will be released two weeks earlier when compared to Funding Year 2005. Letters will be sent to over 4,880 letters to E-rate applicants and service providers notifying them the status of their 2006 applications.
The SLD also released wave 44 for the 2005 funding year, committing $6,782,591.97. Of this amount, $2,828,966.69 was for priority two (internal connections and basic maintenance) requests. As of wave 44, the SLD has committed a total of $1,525,706,278, with $975,107,352 still pending, for the 2005 funding year. It is uncertain when the FCC will approve priority two requests below the 88% discount level.
