On August 17 the SLD released wave 8 for the 2005 funding year which totaled $30 million. The SLD notified 577 applicants and 500 service providers of the status of their priority one services which brings the total committed amount for 2005 to $517 million with $2.8 billion still pending. The SLD is a little behind where they were last year at this point. In early August in the 2004 funding year they had already committed close to $745 million. The SLD anticipates releasing internal connections commitments within the next couple of waves down to the 87% discount rate.
