A Schools and Libraries Division official July 22 said the SLD had erred in seeking authority at this point to approve internal connections requests down to 85 percent for the 2003 funding year.
At a meeting of the Universal Service Board of Directors, SLD officials indicated that an error had been discovered in its projections and that "at this time" it would not be funding internal connections below the 90 percent threshold. That threshold could drop lower in the future, officials said.
On July 11, the Schools and Libraries Committee held a conference call meeting that had authorized the SLD to approve internal connections requests down to the 85 percent threshold. Following that meeting, Funds For Learning reported that the SLD would begin approving internal connections requests down to that level.
