The Schools and Libraries Division announced Feb. 20 that it will delay the next wave of Funding Commitment Decision Letters for the 2002 funding year until after March 1 to give applicants additional time to complete the installation of their non-recurring services.
Under Federal Communications Commission rules, applicants who are not notified until after March 1 of a funding year can qualify for a year's extension of the installation deadline-in this case, until Sept. 30, 2004. The SLD said it would delay the wave originally scheduled for Feb. 24 to March 3, and follow that with another wave on March 10. The SLD has set as a performance goal to try and have all 2002 funding commitments resolved, one way or the other, by March 10.
