The Schools and Libraries Division of the Universal Service Administrative Company announced September 14 that they will commit over $73.5 million in E-rate funding in wave five, bringing the total amount of E-rate funds issued for funding year four to $1.2 billion. This latest wave of commitment letters will be sent to applicants receiving funding for telecommunications services and Internet access as well as those applicants at the 90% discount level who will be notified about funding commitments for internal connections.
Applicants whose discount levels fall below 85% will continue to receive notification that their requests for funding for internal connections equipment has been denied due to insufficient funds. The SLD has yet to make a determination on those requests for priority two services that have been submitted by applicants in the 85% to 89% discount range.
