The Schools and Libraries Division announced Nov. 22 that it has concluded it will not be able to fund Year 3 internal connections requests for E-rate applicants with discount rates of 81 percent.
In April, the SLD announced it would not be able to support internal connections requests from applicants with discount rates of 80 percent or lower. It said it would not be able to determine where the approval threshold would ultimately be until it had reviewed more funding commitments. Since then, the threshold has gradually dropped until Sept. 22, when applicants with discount rates of 82 percent began to be notified that their requests would be supported. But, with another two months worth of review, the SLD concluded it could go no lower.
The agency said applicants at the 81 percent level would be notified during the week of Nov. 27 that their requests would be rejected. The SLD said it would make no funding commitments during Thanksgiving week.
