The Schools and Libraries Division announced Nov. 3 that it has distributed another $187 million worth of E-rate funding commitments, bringing the total committed for the program's second year to $1.57 billion. That number represents 69.7 percent of the maximum amount that the SLD can commit in the second year.
The latest wave, number 17, includes commitments for internal connections requests from applicants at all discount rates.
The wave was issued as many applicants began turning their attention to the application forms for Year 3 of the program, which will run from July 1, 2000 to June 30, 2001. The filing window for those applications will close on January 19, 2000.
