The Schools and Libraries Division announced Sept. 7 that Linda Schatz, director of the Michigan Information Network in Lansing, MI, will become its new vice president of outreach, effective Oct. 8.
Schatz acted as statewide E-rate coordinator for her state and also established a process for coordinating the purchase of telecommunications services among libraries, rural health care providers, schools and other educational and local government entities there. Prior to moving to Michigan in 1995, Schatz served as director of educational telecommunications for Iowa Public Television, and was instrumental in developing the Iowa Communications Network. She holds a masters degree in higher education from Drake University and a B.S. in business administration.
Schatz will succeed Mickey Revenaugh, who resigned from the SLD, effective Sept. 3, to become director of marketing for Broadband Networks Inc.
