Generally, we try not to repeat ourselves. Who wants to read old news? Yet, some truths bear repeating. This is one of those.
Competition is lowering the price of broadband Internet for schools and libraries. Since 2016, the price has dropped more than 55% per megabit.
We believe that one of the underlying factors driving these savings is the amount of competition in the marketplace. The number of bids received by applicants is up more than 26% since 2016. It is hard to believe that this is a coincidence.
For a more in-depth review of these changes, look back to our original analysis published in July, 2019. In the meantime, applicants should be encouraged by these results. Now is the time to release RFPs and post Form 470s.
