On May 30, 2018 the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) released a Public Notice seeking to improve the quality and accuracy of the current broadband availability data and the comments were due on July 16, 2018. Funds For Learning filed comments and argued that the NTIA should consider augmenting their current data with data from the E-rate program to include K-12 schools and public libraries. The Universal Service Administrative Program has broadband connectivity data of every school and library that has filed an E-rate application since 2015.
