On November 25, 2011, the Federal Communications Commission announced that the instructions to FCC Forms 479 and 498 have been updated to include a new certification from the Protecting Children in the 21st Century Act.
The new form instructions were updated to state that ” [b]eginning July 1, 2012, when schools certify their compliance with CIPA, they will also be certifying that their Internet safety policies have been updated to provide for educating minors about appropriate online behavior, including interacting with other individuals on social networking websites and in chat rooms and cyberbullying awareness and response.” The revised instructions are dated August 2011.
The actual Forms 479 and 486 remain unchanged, and retain their previous date of April 2007.
