The Schools and Libraries Division Oct. 20 distributed another 129 funding commitment letters for Year 3, providing another $22.7 million worth of discounts to school and library applicants.
That brings the total committed for Year 3 to $2.04 billion, or about 91 percent of the maximum amount that the SLD could commit. An SLD spokesman said he could not predict exactly how many more waves there would be, but said, "there's not a lot more [applications] out there."
In the latest, 25th wave, the average commitment totaled about $176,000. The threshold for approved internal connections requests did not change, remaining at a discount rate of 82 percent.
So far the SLD has distributed 25,900 funding commitment letters for the 36,000 Form 471 applications that it reported in February that it had received during the Year 3 filing window. Officials were in the process of determining how many applications had been rejected, duplicated or were still awaiting a decision.
