The Schools and Libraries Corporation said Jan. 12 that its Web site was undergoing "final user testing" with librarians and educators. The result of the testing, the SLC said, would determine when the Web site would become operational.
In late November, the SLC had said that the "earliest" the Web site could be operational was the week of Jan. 12. The date that the Web site is formally launched will mark the official start of the application period for E-rate applications, including the initial 75-day funding window. The date will also be formally announced by the Federal Communications Commission.
An SLC staff member said the SLC staff was meeting Jan. 13 to discuss a list of eligible and ineligible services that has been under development.
