As of June 2, 2018, more than $1 billion has been committed for funding year 2018. This is the earliest that USAC has ever issued decision letters totaling such a large amount. In fact, it is only the second time that the billion-dollar threshold has been crossed prior to the start of a funding year. The only previous occasion was in 2014 in which a billion dollars was committed by June 18.
For each funding year, the following chart illustrates the date at which the $1 billion milestone was reached and the number of applicants who were impacted. Funding commitments before July 1 are important because it allows schools and libraries to select vendor discounted invoices for their recurring services.
