Every year the SLD releases their demand report which specifies how many applications have been received, for what priorities and at what discount rates. Typically it will take the SLD several weeks to gather the information as many applicants waited until the last day or two to file their Form 471s and there are a few very large applicants that file paper applications that takes time for the SLD to data enter into their system. However, on March 28, 2014, the SLD released preliminary data indicating a total of 47,023 Form 471’s totaling $4.868 billion. Applicants requested $2.643 billion for priority one services and $2.225 billion in priority two services.
These figures will grow over the course of the next several weeks as paper-filed applications are entered into the USAC system. The final FY2014 demand estimate is expected in April. (The FY 2013 demand estimate was released on April 22, 2013.)
