On July 14, the Schools and Libraries Division will commit $53.8 million in nearly 500 letters to E-rate applicants for the 2003 funding year. This latest wave of letters will pertain to telecommunications services and Internet access, as well as internal connections at the 90 percent level. (On July 11, the SLD announced it will approve funding requests down to the 85 percent level for internal connections for the 2003 funding year, with commitment letters to be mailed later.) The issuance of this 7th wave of 2003 funding letters on July 14 represents a total commitment, so far, of nearly $708 million in 25,600 letters for the 2003 funding year.
